Growth Stages and Caring For Them
Plant!
Seeds are called Nuts and only one color. The BlossUm's main color will be the color of the Nut, but it could range anywhere from dark to light. For example, a red Nut could be between deep, rich brick red to very soft, light pink.
When you get a Nut, put it in a pot with nutritious soil, give it water, sunlight, and decide what to feed it, whether to sing to it, read it stories and what not... then wait a couple of days.
(Or you could be like Jack from Harvest Moon and accidentally eat it by hitting the wrong button. Hah!)
----Nut: Initial stage of growth. Can be prizes in events or produced through breeding two normal Chums. Nuts do not get a certificate image. You do not get a Nut when ordering a Custom.
Grow!
The sapling stage is called the Stum, and, if it's not sick, will stand tall and proud in it's little pot. A Stum won't show any visible genetic mutations while in this stage, but it does show a true base color. The color may fluctuate slightly while growing further, as pencils are not perfect.
----Stum: 2-5 days. Can be prizes in events or grown from a Nut. This stage is included when ordering a three-piece custom.
Wiggle!
After about two or three weeks you will start to see a lump at the base of the Stum, sometimes hidden by foliage. This is the Bum stage, because the lump you are seeing is the Blossum Buddy's round, little tush and you may even see a footsie or two sticking out as well. The plant is the Blossum's tail and it is currently upside-down in the soil, with the occassional little wiggle as it dreams. Bums may have visible body genes at this point, but other mutations and features will still be unknown.
----Bum: 2-3 weeks. Usually grown from previous stages. This stage is included when ordering a three-piece custom.
Tug!
After another two or three weeks of bumming around, your Bum will start to wiggle a lot more often and shake the leaves of it's tail stum. That is a pretty good sign that it is waking up. It is ready to bloom as a fully grown Chum!
Congratulations!
Always remember to dig a little ditch around the bum to loosen the soil and grab near the base of the tail and tug gently or you could snap it clean off! Depending on the parents and how you chose to care for them, they will emerge with many different genetic possibilities and they can usually pass these genes on to their seedlings. They may also find accessories, props, or bug friends as well.
----Chum: 2-3 weeks. Can be prizes in events or grown from previous stages. This stage is always included in a custom order.
